Getting started

Add your first monitor

Go from an address to a monitored service and a public component.

Before you start

Choose a public HTTP or HTTPS address you are allowed to monitor. A URL without a scheme defaults to HTTPS. Private, loopback, and reserved network addresses are refused.

The free plan allows 3 monitors, including paused ones. Premium allows 100 across the account’s owned workspaces.

Add the service

  1. Open Monitors and select Add monitor.
  2. Enter a recognizable name and the service’s address. HTTP and HTTPS checks are available on the free plan.
  3. Choose a group if you have one, and decide whether to show the service on your public status page.
  4. Open Advanced settings if you need a specific response status, a keyword, custom headers, or certificate expiry alerts.
  5. Select Save monitor. Open the monitor’s details to see the first result and its check history.

Review the first result

A new monitor starts with no observed uptime. Grey history bars represent missing observations, rather than 100% uptime. Use Check now when you want a result before the next scheduled check; it is limited to once a minute per monitor.

Add an alert channel as well as a monitor. A service can be monitored correctly while having no active destination for its alerts.
