SSL certificate monitoring

Verify HTTPS certificates and set an expiry warning threshold.

Certificate verification

HTTPS checks verify certificate trust, hostname, and validity by default. A certificate failure can cause a failed check and, after confirmation, an outage. Certificate settings apply to HTTP monitors with an HTTPS address, not TCP or UDP monitors.

The recorded certificate belongs to the original HTTPS host and port, rather than a later redirect destination.

Enable expiration alerts

  1. Edit an HTTPS monitor and open Advanced settings.
  2. Under Certificate, enable Alert before certificate expiration.
  3. Choose a threshold of 1, 2, 3, 7, 14, 30, or 60 days.
  4. Save the monitor and verify that an active notification channel is configured.

Read the certificate countdown

The dashboard shows the last observed expiry date and a countdown. A warning badge describes the certificate observation; seeing a badge alone does not enable expiry notifications.

A paused monitor does not perform new checks. Its certificate metadata can become old, so inspect the observation time when troubleshooting.
