On-call schedules and overrides

Set a responder rotation, choose the primary schedule, and cover a shift.

This guide covers Premium features. Premium is in early access and cannot be bought yet.

Create a rotation

  1. Open On-call & escalation and select Create on-call schedule.
  2. Name the schedule, choose colleagues who can open the workspace, and arrange their shift order.
  3. Choose a shift length of 1 to 28 days and a first shift start in your local time.
  4. Review the calendar preview and save. The first schedule is primary; later schedules become primary only when you choose Make primary.

Primary and backup schedules

A workspace can have up to 10 schedules, with at most one primary. The primary schedule’s on-call person receives every alert right away by email. Other schedules can be targets of the escalation policy.

Disabling a schedule stops its on-call assignment while keeping its rotation settings. In the configuration form, the switch edits the draft: select Save changes to apply it.

Cover a shift and remind responders

Create an override from the calendar or Create override to have someone take over for a specific time. An override lasts up to 31 days and cannot overlap another override in that schedule.

Choose an upcoming-shift reminder under On-call & escalation. A responder can receive the reminder by confirmed account email and their own push channels. Shift lengths are fixed, so local handoff times can move when daylight saving changes.
